Principal of Tring Park School for the Performing Arts, Hertfordshire, Simon Larter-Evans, discusses why integrating the arts even further into the curriculum, and especially joining with the sciences, matters.
“I want to start provocatively by challenging the frequently proclaimed new idea of needing to educate students for a future that is yet unknown. The idea that future job requirements are unknowable is frankly nonsense. For example, who would have thought that the job of ‘influencer’ was around back in the 18th century? If you think of figures such as Beau Brummel, the Regency arbiter of fashion, it becomes clear we’ve seen it all before.”
